Acenet

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation

Online play for the Xbox 360 recompilation of Ace Combat 6 with online support. Player Match, Ranked Match and leaderboards go through Acenet's lobby.

Platforms

Linux and Steam Deck
Tested and working.
Windows
Beta. Online play has been tested against the Linux and Steam Deck build, with the Windows build running under Proton, but not yet on a real Windows PC. If you run the Windows build under Proton, set the Steam launch options PROTON_NO_NTSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%, or the game freezes.
macOS
Not supported for online play.

There is nothing to sign up for: the game creates its own key the first time it signs in, and other players see your gamertag.

Turn it on

Close the game, open ac6recomp.toml (beside the game's executable; on Steam Deck setups that start through a bundled loader, beside the loader), and add this section:

[netplay]
enabled = true
server = "play.acenet.gg:47800"
server_key = "5a137323790c7f59a64fd640c034def6449894b587f95a4d13f2d059ae8bcc44"
gamertag = "YourName"

Options

gamertag
The name others see: up to 15 letters, digits and spaces. If it is taken, the server adds a number.
force_relay = true
Optional: send all traffic through Acenet if direct connections misbehave.
privacy = true
Optional: hide your IP address from other players (all traffic goes through the relay; may add latency).

One bad line makes the game ignore the whole file. Use forward slashes in paths. The game log shows overlay: state connecting -> online once you are signed in.
